My dad had a stroke,(Hemorrhagic stroke) a blood vessel bursted in his brain, and he was bleeding in his brain. My mom called 911 and he was taken to the hospital ,the bleeding has stopped,thank goodness their watching to make sure it dose not start again ,and he is aware of whats going on,hes frustrated and upset ,he was crying a little bit the drs say that's normal for them to be angry or upset after this happens,they say that's really good he is so alert and aware though ,he still can not talk or move his right side of his body,His brain is really swollen the DRs are waiting for the swelling to go down, so they can do scans to see what caused this, its very rare,he dose not have high blood pressure,so they think it could be Vascular malformation,or something else that caused it.
10-21-10 he Started physical therapy, stood up, sat in a chair, brushed his teeth, drank from a straw and swallowed which is huge ,tomorrow morning he will have a scan to show all his the stuff going on in his brain so they can try to figure out what happened,he still cant talk or move his right side of the body,but he is aware of whats going on,and nodding his head,no or yes,and they found a great Rehabilitation center for him to go to,Things are looking up, keep praying,we have the best friends and family

my sister just called the MRI came back stable meaning hes not getting worse or better,and the scan was inconclusive meaning that cant see anything that caused this,no brain tumors or anything,DRs said this is great,Now their doing a chest one to make sure theirs no cancer,but if everything goes well he will be moved to the rehabilitation center,such great news I could do a cartwheel! Keep the good news coming ..
10-22-10 530pm ..They did his scan on his brain but because it was inconclusive,they want to do one more to be sure,this time its a cat scan,and they will use a dye to check everything, so he will be their till Monday then probably moved to the rehabilitation center ,They did his chest ex ray this morning but haven't herd the results yet,but my mom feels positive about it though, because they read them right away.Hes trying to be in good spirits but is so frustrated, they put him on an anti depressant to help keep him happy& keep working hard,please continue to keep him in your prayers! Happy Anniversary Mom and dad ! =( I know this is a hard one,but nextyear will be better,love you guys!

10-23-10 My dad just SAID Hello and said moomoo too, he laughed and he is making fun of the nurses i am so excited,amazing how these little thing mean so much,this is great improvement !!
10-24-2010 Today Lexi went to see papa for the first time,dad was very happy to see her, squeezed her tight, He didn't talk today,but he is having a little bit of feeling on his right side,the nurse ripped of a band aid on his right leg and he made a noise,and she was feeling his hand and he shook his head yes he could feel it, those are good signs,he still is frustrated not being able to talk.No word on any of the test yet. He started his anti depressant medicine today.Hopefully will help him stay positive and not so frustrated.

It was a good day yesterday, dad started his rehabilitation ,he is saying a lot more words,they make him say hello and good bye when they come and go,he was a able to get his catheter out, and now can go to the bathroom,and hes standing up,he also ate some food so he wont need a feeding tube,which is great news,hes in his regular clothes now,and they are pushing him everyday to work hard and get better,my mom said its a great facility . His brain is still so swollen they wont be able to get a good scan of it for 3 to 6 weeks,but my mom said he has some great neurologists. his chest x ray came back good,didn't show anything.My mom was very positive about his progress,and said hes in great spirits ,Great news!!My mom said the nurse would come in and say don't take off your shoes Jerry we have more work to do,and he would through the blanket over his head and try to laugh =)

Just got word from my sister today he is having a really hard day he's grouchy and really tiered probably exhausted from yesterday, wanting to sleep today,I'm sure it will be like this for a while,good and bad days,poor dad. Hes still headed in the right direction though , making great progress =)

Hes having great progress, laughing and doing so well,I'm loving the new pictures of him smiling,he loves getting all the cards from people,they mean so much to him!! His work has been so supportive, they have been coming to visit him, and are so impressed with his progress!! Those prayers are helping so much!!

Had an amazing day today,got to talk to my dad on the phone,and he did so good,he even had me laughing,I miss him so much!! I said I'm coming to visit you soon, he said no you just need to move here =) It was wonderful,I felt like someone lifted a weight off my chest.He has the same personality ,just needed a little help on saying some things,but his improvement is just amazing,those prayers have helped so much!!

An update from my sister-My mom went to the St David's at 8 this morning to bring my dads truck to practice getting him in and out with the Therapist, he did so good. His new truck is big but has a step to get in and my dad pretty much lifted himself up and sat down. We get to bring him home on Thanksgiving day. My dad also walked with a walker today for an hour. -What a wonderful Thanksgiving!He gets to come home for Thanksgiving dinner but then goes back to the rehabilitation center for a few more weeks. Red cross is letting Brendon come home too for 10 days so he will be their for Thanksgiving too, My moms so happy!! I wish so much I could be with them =(

My sister just let me know our dad will be coming home for good next Sat. Dec 11,how exciting ,I know he is so ready to come home,he still will need lots of help ,but this is great news!!

My mom is so happy said my dad is walking around all morning with a cane,so wonderful,he comes home Sat. =) I have talked him on the phone and his improvement is just amazing he is doing so good!!! So proud of him!Also so proud of my mom she has not left his side, she has been working hard with him to get better, I know shes exhausted . Her strength is amazing ,we are all so lucky to have her! And tomorrow the Rehabilitation center is having him be like a spokes person type thing, and hes going to be talking on one of their videos, because of his improvement! .
